GE’s Enormous New Wind Turbine
General Electric has a new wind turbine. It’s enormous—each blade is 176 feet long—and the drivetrain uses magnets rather than gears which simplifies the design and increases efficiency. According to Popular Science, it will be able to capture “25 percent more wind power than conventional models.” It should be ready to go by 2012.

Seeing wind turbines in the distance and the blades up close on the highway… impresive is all I have to say.
